Currently creating an animated pilot for my upcoming series Corrosive Death

Hey there! I’m Akira O’Halloran and I’m an artist, animator, writer, singer, and performer in musical theatre. I’ve been drawing, singing, and doing musical theatre for as long as I can remember, and I’ve been writing since grade one. I’ve had a few accomplishments throughout my life such as winning 1st and highly commended for my theatre performances at Quota Beenleigh Eisteddfod, as well as star quality award, theatre, and dancing medals.

I know how to use the following software’s, Toon Boom Harmoney, Krita, Clip Studio Paint, OBS Studio, Excel, Word, Audacity, Veadotube Mini, Hitfilm Pro, Davinci Resolve, and Adobe software's. If I were to try to describe my personality, I'd say I'm typically quiet in front of strangers, but I can be chattier when I open up to people. Whilst I have gone through many trying times in my life, I believe that those times have only made me stronger and more aware of the real world.

Some likes that I have are birds, dragons, dinosaurs, monsters, crystals, shiny things, video games, enamel pins, plushies, figurines, colours, dark places (the sun hurts me), ice cream, cheesecake, pepperoni pizza, chicken nuggets, music, animation, and art. My ethnicity is Australian, Aboriginal, Irish, Torres Strait Islander, Filipino, British, Chinese, Malaysian, and Spanish. I’m nonbinary and like to describe my sexuality as sapphic or queer.

Art is important to me because it is a way to let out my emotions, worlds in my mind, and ideas. All forms of art, whether that be animation, art, music, dancing, acting, or whatever have you, are all forms of communication that I feel are very important to the human experience. My goal at the moment is to create a pilot for my mature animated series to be, Corrosive Death.

Education

2022 - 2024 (Incomplete)

Bachelor of Animation
Griffith University

At Griffith University I learnt perspective, background art, still life art, Toon Boom Harmony, how to read the moving image, and some character design. I unenrolled the University due to health issues amongst other more personal reasons.

2021-2021

Diploma of Screen and Interactive Media
TAFE

At TAFE I dabbled in 3D modelling, animation, After Effects and python/html/java script coding. I did this course not for the content itself but rather to have the diploma to get me into Griffith University for a bachelor's of animation. Nearing the end of TAFE, I went through a few traumatic events that I've been told would stop others from doing the last of the few assessments left, however I was determined.

Despite going through a tough time, I still managed to complete the course and succeed which I'm proud of myself for. A highlight of my course was working on a class project where I got to be the 2D animator of a background video for DJ Brooklyn. Everyone communicated very well I had so much fun bouncing ideas off the class.

2019-2020

Cert III Visual Arts
Eagleby Learning Centre

In this course I was able to learn about colour theory, still painting and other fun basics needed for the foundation of being a good illustrator. My favourite part of the course was surprisingly painting on a skateboard. The teacher gave the class the task of painting what we think our souls would look like.

I don't like paint as I find it a medium that's hard to control, but when I painted the skateboard, I felt calm. I drew a feminine person with pink hair, small deer horns and deer ears surrounded by nature, butterflies, and a mouse. I drew this because I felt that I was a soft soul (hence the deer features on the feminine person) that loves nature and animals.
